Serna del Monte (La)

LA SERNA DEL MONTE

Of rural origin, its traditional architecture consists of rural houses and outbuildings for agriculture and livestock. It has a recreational area and signposted routes.

La Serna del Monte has a rural origin like most of the municipalities of the Sierra Norte. Today it is possible to observe some valuable examples such as the horseshoeing colt, a well and the forge, restored and of which the whetstone, the bellows, the anvil and the basin are preserved. Those who wish to immerse themselves in rural life can also participate in the agritourism activities in La Serna.

The artistic heritage is best represented in the Church of San Andrés, the Sundial in the Town Hall Square or the Fuente de Arriba.

It has the Recreational Area of the Arroyo and the Park of the Cárcava, or if you prefer there are marked routes, such as the Senda de la Dehesilla that walks towards the Ermita de Braojos in a circular route full of color. The Senda del Mirador runs through pasture areas where there is a tunnel that probably connected the bunkers during the Civil War. From the inside the spectacle is impressive, it covers the port of La Hiruela, Sierra de Puebla, Puentes Viejas and Riosequillo reservoirs, the region of La Jara and the Lozoya Valley.
