Rutas americanas en la Comunidad de Madrid

The influence of America in Madrid is now visible through three routes that reveal the traces left by the discovery of the American continent in our region.

These routes have been designed by TURUAM, a multidisciplinary group composed of researchers from the tourism sector, within the project "American Routes in the Community of Madrid AMERMAD 2022", whose main objective is to value and exploit in an innovative way the historical, cultural and natural heritage generated by the profound influence of America in the Madrid region and in the worldviews, customs and material culture of its inhabitants. The three routes are presented in a visual, interactive way, with photographs, videos, written and spoken explanations, activities, etc,

Route 1: This route is aimed at families with children between 7 and 12 years old. The planned route combines cultural and recreational activities and lasts 4 to 5 hours. This route combines a visit to the Museum of America with a dynamic activity in the Parque del Oeste, and concludes with a gastronomic experience to taste traditional Peruvian dishes.

Route 2: Designed for adults who love cultural tourism, it takes place in some of the emblematic landmarks of the Landscape of Light: the Parque del Buen Retiro and the Naval Museum, with an approximate duration of 4 hours.

In addition to these two guided tours, there is an Ibero-American gastronomic experience that serves as a transition between the two visits. This time to enjoy the typical flavours of Latin American gastronomy is designed as an informal aperitif, tasting a variety of small-format dishes from different countries, accompanied by a typical drink.

Route 3: This route, which allows visitors to enjoy the surroundings of the Landscape of Light, is designed for all types of public and is dedicated to the American legacy in the world (food, dyes, festivals, etc.), linked to the senses. With an approximate duration of 3 and a half hours, this route takes us into the valuable natural environment of the Royal Botanical Garden.

On the other hand, the visit to the America room of the National Museum of Anthropology will show the customs of these peoples through their way of life, domestic life, clothing, leisure and religion. As a culmination to this route full of connections between the daily life of Latin America and Spain, you will enjoy typical snacks in an Argentinean restaurant.
