The town of Miraflores de la Sierra in Madrid is organizing for this autumn the Mycological Days that, until December 11, take residents and visitors to the countryside to observe, identify and learn from the world of mushrooms, do not miss it!
The natural environment of the Sierra de Guadarrama is the ideal place to immerse yourself in the world of mycology. These days offer a mycological hiking tour and a workshop dedicated to the identification of mushroom species in the vicinity of Miraflores. The days have an estimated duration of 4 hours and a half and are a great educational activity as well as a great opportunity for leisure and free time in the countryside.
The days usually start in the morning, at the Puerto de Canencia, where the participants are welcomed. Groups of up to 9 people will be accompanied by a professional guide through the vicinity of the port on a tour lasting up to 3 hours. There, the participants will learn to identify and collect different types of mushrooms, such as Boletus Edulis, Thistle Mushrooms or Macrolepiotas.
The collection of these species will be followed by an hour-and-a-half-long identification workshop that will reveal their particular characteristics. Attendees will then receive a diploma and can enjoy the rest of the day in the town of Miraflores.
If you are still hungry for more, on Sundays a mushroom cooking workshop is organized at the El Soto Training Center, in the town of Guadarrama. There you will learn how to cook dishes with local mushrooms, such as a boletus risotto or some Macrolepiota with garlic.
It is mushroom season so, this fall, come to Miraflores!
