Ruta circular por la Sierra de los Porrones

The spring is about to arrive, and surely the lovers of outdoor activities look forward to go hiking and discover new routes. For them, this is the circular route through the Sierra de los Porrones, where they can enjoy unique landscapes of Mediterranean vegetation in the heart of the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park. Here we go!

If outdoor activities are your thing, and you also want to enjoy a day with your family, we suggest you do this medium-difficulty circular route

The beauty and environmental interest of this area of the Region of Madrid is well known. A place full of granite formations of great beauty, which allow us to enjoy another point of view very different from the one we are used to in the region.

We will start from the parking located at the access to the Regional Park of the Cuenca Alta del Manzanares, and we will walk towards the Collado de Quebrantaherraduras, from where we can see a panoramic view of La Pedriza, La Nava, and the beginning of the Sierra de los Porrones, through a path that ends in a forest track that will take us to Canto Cochino.

From here, we will enjoy a pleasant walk that descends to the parking of Canto Cochino by the hill of the Casiruelas, finding on our way resin pines and rockroses. Once there, we will only have to take the way back that will end where it began, in the Collado de Quebrantaherraduras.

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, do not forget to bring water and a camera to immortalize the moment, as you will have excellent views of La Pedriza and more specifically of Pico del Yelmo at the highest point of the route.
