You can visit now (until 1 April) the new exhibition at Museo Arqueológico Regional (Regional Archaeological Museum) which commemorates the settlement of the Arabs in the Iberian Peninsula. This exhibition analyzes the cultural and social changes experienced in the Iberian Peninsula because of that event: public aspects of the society (religion, power, military activity…) and private aspects in the everyday life (dressing, food…) It is a very didactic exhibition with the most recent findings and different points of view of the experts. The exhibition is divided into five units: Unit 1: Historic reflections about 711. It presents the historical facts that took place until the invasion and conquer of the peninsula: Guadalete Battle, the Goth kingdom in the VII century, the political and social situation, etc. Unit 2 shows us the territorial organization, the movements between the country and the city, cities development, social statements… Everyday life is the subject of Unit 3. The visitor can discover in this unit showcases and expositors how they lived, their homes, food, writing, home economy… Agriculture, fishing, recollecting, hunting, cattle farming, storage, trade, all these subjects are included in Unit 4, named “Economic activity”. And closing the exhibition, Unit 5 “Religion, Ideology, Calendar and Rituals” teaches us about churches, mosques, monasteries, funerary rituals and the process of conversion.
