09:00 - 10:30. You can start at Puerta del Sol, centre of the capital. Walk around this popular square and take some picture to the Oso y el Madroño monument. After this, go to the Arenal Street and look for Chocolatería San Ginés, a little café that serves hot chocolate and the traditional ‘churros’ (strip of fried dough). 10:30 - 12:30. After this breakfast walk towards the Teatro Real (Royal Theatre). Surround it and you will find out the Royal Palace and opposite, the Almudena’s Cathedral. Enjoy all this architectural complex. You can visit both of them inside. Also you can have a walk in the Sabatini Gardens and Campo del Moro. 12:30 - 14:00. Along the Mayor Street (Calle Mayor) we find the Habsburg's Madrid. Don’t miss the Plaza Mayor and enjoy an appetizer: what about a caña (little beer) and a typical squid sandwich in one of the quiet terraces? After that you can take a glimpse to the stamps and currency shops that there are all around the Plaza Mayor, perhaps you can find an interesting treasure… Go out of the square through the the Cuchilleros Arch and loose yourself inside this group of narrow streets.
19:00 - 21:00. Take again the Madrid Visión Bus and enjoy the Gran Vía with its historical buildings. You will discover its glamour face: the Gran Vía full of musicals, theatres, cinemas, people, bars and cafés… Here it is where the madrileño Broadway was born!! Before the play, have a look to all the shops that you find in your way to the theatre or musical play. 21:00 - 00.00. You are near España Square (Plaza de España) where in the middle it is located a Miguel de Cervantes’ memorial monument and two of his most famous characters: Don Quijote and Sancho Panza. You can walk to the Debod Temple and have a rest admiring the sunset. After that you will have time only for a good meal and a couple of drinks in the bars near the Princesa Street. |
