On March the 27th is celebrated the Theater International Day and our city hosts the “Night of the theatres” fourth edition, an intensive day dedicated to the scenic creation. It will consist of 7 hours of theatre, dance, circus, music, children's workshops, street theatre, puppets, etc. From 5 pm until 12 pm, Madrid will be "pure theatre."
On the eve of the Theater International Day and, as it has become tradition, the Valle-Inclán statue located in the Paseo de Recoletos will wear a white scarf. Overnight, hundreds of admirers will tour the same places Max estrella visited in Valle-Inclán’s masterpiece: Luces de Bohemia, the inauguration of the grotesque genre.
The tour will begin at seven pm at Mayor 84, where Valle set Zarathustra Cave and will culminate at eleven in the Hall of Columns of the Círculo de Bellas Artes, where different personalities of cultural and politic life will intervene.
In this thirteenth edition, we also commemorate the Centenary of the Birth of Miguel Hernandez. The poet from Orihuela once wrote: "You are my home, Madrid, my existence," and here, as Valle-Inclan’s hero, he suffered imprisonment.
The 27th, regional theatres, local stages, private, alternative clubs and associations will join this initiative. 132 scenic areas in the region will tribute theatre bringing almost 200 activities related to theatre, a closely linked to our history discipline. To see the full program, click here.
One of the most awaited productions is El Llanto, a version of Llanto por Ignacio Sanchez Mejias, written by Federico García Lorca in 1935. The Teatro Español hosts this show and two Ingar Bergman’s masterpieces: Escenas de matrimonio and Sarabanda.
Teatros del Canal will perform Frankenstein and 2036 Omena-G, Els Joglars theatre company most recent play.
Teatro Valle-Inclán, part of the National Dramatic Center hosts, Urtain the play bythe company Animalario that achieves twelve Max Awards for Performing Arts nominations, and Madre coraje y sus hijos.
After these shows the World Theater Day manifesto will be read.
The more classical side of the theatre will be held as usual at the Teatro Pavón, Compania Nacional de Teatro Clásico. There will be performed El condenado por desconfiado, one of Tirso de Molina’s the most complicated plays to represent.
The municipalities of our Community do not lag behind in its proposals, like the Teatro Tomas y Valiente from Fuenlabrada, where the Company Morboria performs The Miser, by Molière.
Theater, film, music
In Rivas-Vaciamadrid, Pilar Bardem Municipal Auditorium hosts whole Toda una vida, Antonio Machin's bolero that Maria Dolores Pradera has chosen to title her new tour: a review of her repertoire.
As another puppeteer, Luis Maria Anson will exert this year as reader of the opening speech of the International Theater festival. It will be in the Casa Museo Lope de Vega as special opening for holding the fourth edition of LNT.
There will be a poetry recital at the Romantic Museum and the La Música en Vivo live music venues will join the celebration with concerts, like the Black Light Gospel Choir in the Sala El Barco. Neither flamenco tablaos want to miss this night and, if that were not enough, you will also have film series at the Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas de España or at la Casa Encendida.
