Neil Orman and his film "Sabor Madrileño” has won the Madrid Dares You short film contest. The name of the winner of 3000 Euros was announced at a ceremony held at Hotel Room Mate Grace in New York relied on the presence of the actor Alec Baldwin.

In the middle of the gala, a very excited Neil Orman -prize in hand- declared: "I would like to special thank Alec Baldwin for taking the time to come to the awards ceremony. Wow!".

Neil filmed the most representative places of gastronomic traditions of Madrid and rang the innards of all who have seen his short film. Pata negra ham, sunny side up fried eggs or roast suckling pig delight "Sabor Madrileño". Haven’t you watched yet?

From the bustling terraces
where Madrilians spend long hours sitting around a table while having cañas and tapas; to the most traditional cuisine, made following centenary recipes of one of the longest-lived restaurants in Madrid, Lucio; passing along the avant-garde and experimental cuisine of Madrilian chef Paco Roncero.
While showing these culinary recipes, Erasmus Students, Americans settled in Madrid and tourists tell Neil the things they really enjoy of the gastronomic culture of Madrid.

This short film has won the jury over because Neil Orman has managed to record the passion that good food and drink wakes in Madrilians. Waiters, chefs and customers show their enthusiasm proving once again, that gastronomy is a strong factor in the culture and identity of Madrilians.

There is real passion for food in Madrid and this short film had successfully captured it.  We see renowned chefs such as Paco Roncero enjoying their recipes. Some of them are made with the very latest liquid nitrogen techniques.

We let ourselves be infected by the enthusiasm of waiters who say "There is no other place to eat like Madrid”. After hours and hours of work there is not impact on the kindness that these professionals provide to their customers.

And most importantly, the result of all this: the satisfaction smile of those who savored a plate of cured ham, a well-poured caña or some sunny side up fried eggs. It's just food but in Madrid the food is carefully selected, cooked with dedication, served with enthusiasm and tasted with passion.

"I love the idea that eating a meal doesn't have to be rushed and bordering on stressful! Lovely", said an  American in our website. In Madrid people take their time to enjoy food: both its preparation and its taste.

The best covering letter

This project started as a touristic promotion activity directed to the U.S. market, in which themselves were the target prescribers among their countrymen: Madrid for the Americans, told by Americans.

And we have achieved our goals through a clean of prejudice pair of eyes. Neil Orman's eyes, shot our city best cover letter. "I want to first thank Turismo Madrid for this amazing contest. I am so grateful for the free trip to Madrid, the wonderful treatment we've received and the opportunity to make a film".

If we rely on the users comments, we are full of promises of coming to Madrid. Certainly we hope so because we are sure that whoever comes, repeat.

There will be a prize draw for a trip for 2 people to Madrid among those who joined this initiative. The draw will take place these days and the winner will be published very soon.

The project could not have been done without the cooperation of the Tisch School, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain, the Madrid Film Commission, ECAM Film School of Madrid, TAI School, Room Mate Hotels, Viva Tours, and the Centenary Restaurant Association of Madrid. Thanks everyone.
