This municipality is located to the south of the autonomous region, some 29km from the capital, very close to Parla, and bordering with the province of Toledo.
Its main point of interest is its castle which, since 1949, has been a monument of cultural interest.
It dates back to the C13th, although it was primarily built over the next two centuries; since the C18th, it has served as a factory for ham and wool spinning, as well as a warehouse for agricultural machinery and a cattle-collecting place. It used to have up to nine semi-cylindrical towers at each corner of the enclosure but, unfortunately, although the spectacular nature of its design can be imagined, it is currently almost in ruins.
Also of special interest is the palaeoanthropological area of the Cerro de Batallones, a permanent hotbed of information about the far-distant predecessors of this land, and the C17th church of San Sebastián Protomártir. The square presided by the town hall and the shrine of San Nicolás is also worth contemplating.
